A tour bus helps reveal the hidden truth behind poverty in Canada
Despite being ranked as one of the best countries in the world to live in, one in ten Canadians still live in poverty, unable to pay their bills or afford basics like food and clothing.
The Salvation Army wanted to tackle the idea that just because you can’t see poverty, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. To make people more aware of ‘invisible’ poverty, they organised a free “Canadian Discovery Tour”. Guests hopped on a tour bus, where the tour guide outlined some famous sites. Part of the way through, whilst approaching ordinary sites, such as a shopping centre or a row of houses, the tour guide informed guests of the facts of poverty behind the facades.
